Valle de Cachapoal

Continuing south from Santiago along Hwy 5 you will enter the Valley of Cachapoal after passing the Angustura Tunnel as an approximate starting point. Several of the wineries are north of the city of Rancagua which lies just north of the Rio Cachapoal. The majority of the wineries are south of the river and east of Hwy 5. Like the Maipo Valley the vineyards of the Cachapoal are planted in over 80 per cent red grape varieties. Though not as well known as the other valleys a visit to the Cachapoal can also be an interesting day trip.
